About Mike’s A Handyman

My name is Michael Berry and I own “Mike’s a Handyman,” serving Spokane, Washington and surrounding areas.

I am a licensed Washington State General Contractor

(Lic# MIKESH*768QE)

And hold RRP (Renovation, Repair & Painting) Certification

(Cert # WAC 365-230)

For safe lead-based paint practices in older homes.

I started my full-time handyman business roughly 2 years ago. Most of my hands-on knowledge comes from commercial tenant improvement and electrical work in the 1980s, combined with years of personal experience renovating two of my own homes — handling painting, flooring, trim work, cabinetry, and more.

I take pride in being punctual, honest, and respectful of your home — especially when working on older properties where lead-safe practices matter. My goal is to deliver quality craftsmanship while leaving the job site clean. That approach has earned me a perfect 5.0-star rating with strong feedback on professionalism and work quality.

5 Stars from Dozens of Satisfied Customers

“Reliable, Skilled, and Honest Handyman — Our Go-To for Home Repairs and Renovations!

Hiring Mike has truly been one of the best business decisions we’ve made. He’s helped us with everything from home repairs and remodeling projects to rental property renovations, always delivering top-quality results that make our spaces shine.

Mike’s craftsmanship and attention to detail are exceptional. Whether it’s painting, drywall, carpentry, or general maintenance, he completes every job with precision and care. He communicates clearly, shows up on time, and takes pride in doing the job right the first time.

What we value most is his honesty and professionalism. He’s upfront about what’s within his scope, transparent about costs, and always follows through. Over time, we’ve come to fully trust him with our homes and properties.

If you’re looking for a dependable handyman who’s skilled, trustworthy, and delivers excellent results, Mike is the one to call. We can’t recommend him highly enough!”

“I could only select 3 attributes to describe my experience with Mike but I would have chosen all 5. He is incredibly knowledgeable, competent, honest, fair and reasonable with his fees. He did an excellent job and I will absolutely hire him again as projects come up. It’s so hard to find someone trustworthy and affordable. I was so grateful to find Mike!”

“Mike did an outstanding job updating our very crowded laundry room. He removed a large cabinet and replaced with a wall cabinet. This work entailed assembling and hanging the wall cabinet, repairing damage to the wall, painting and replacing door and floor molding. We will hire him for additional projects. Great job overall!”

“Mike was excellent as a handyman! He was on time, courteous and skillful. All that's needed in a handyman. We will certainly use his services again. He built stone stairs to our hillside bench. His fee was on par with others. Unlike one fellow who said his daily rate was $700 a day. We passed on that guy. Mike was reasonable and worked efficiently! Great results all the way around!”

FAQs

1

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When a customer contacts me, I will respond back the same way you contacted me (email to email, text to text). I will text you before heading over to your place and text you when I arrive. I'm pretty low-key and have plenty of work, so I don't need to pressure you for work.

2

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I did electrical and commercial tenant improvement back in the 1980's That's where most of my experience comes from. Then I've owned 3 homes and have done most of the improvements myself over the past 30 yrs. Things like paint, flooring, sinks/disposals, all my electrical. Even built my own sheds.

3

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure the contractor is LICENSED. I met a man who had work done, they weren't licensed, rafters were 3' apart and ended on the property line, both of which aren't to building codes. A very expensive lesson.

4

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

My first project was a decorative patio. It turned out beautifully leveled without any dips. I'm really pleased with the "Stairway to Heaven", the owner hadn't been able to get to her bench up on the hill for almost 2 yrs. It was really satisfying to help her out.
